The love for food and coffee that we have; sometimes, we get immersed in munching that it becomes too intense that it spills on our clothes. When a food stain lands on your lovely shirt or favorite jeans, do not rub it! And mostly, do not panic or get upset immediately. There is a way to remove that stain, and here is how you should do it, even when you are still in a cafe.
If you are in a cafe and you cannot go to the laundry service for help. Do not worry. There are things you can do to pretreat the stain. Just do not let the stain set on your clothes.
Go for the water in your glass.
This is the universal stain remover. You can use this on any type of garment without worrying about damage. Damp a paper napkin and dab it onto the stain. Ensure that the water goes through the fabric to lift the stains. Let the stain soak in water to see if it fades away.
Ask for a lemon.
Apply water onto the food stain and squeeze the lemon on it. Leave the lemon juice on the stain for 30 minutes. After you eat, dab a wet tissue on the stained area. However, this trick is only applicable to white or light-colored clothes because lemon has acid and works as a natural bleach. It may be less acidic than commercial bleach, but it may still leave a mark on darker-colored clothes.
Request white vinegar and salt from the waiter.
It may be a weird request, but the other guests might think you are just going in for a tequila shot. However, white vinegar is good for pretreating coffee and tea stains. You can dab vinegar onto the coffee stain with a clean towel. You might smell sour for a while but clean it off by dabbing some water onto the stained area. Repeat this process at home and wash your clothes immediately.
Meanwhile, if it is a grease stain, you can place salt on it and let the salt absorb the stain. Brush the salt away. If there is still a noticeable stain, you can repeat the process. If you were enjoying spaghetti or pizza, the tomato-based stain could be pretreated with lemon juice. Pour some salt onto the lemon juice and let it sit for a few minutes until it fades.
Once the stains fade, dab clean water to remove it efficiently.
Now that you have blotted and pretreated the food stain from your clothes, you do not have to worry about it. You can work on it once you get home and wash the remaining noticeable stains. If, for instance, the food stain is still dark and noticeable, it is time to bring it to the laundry delivery service and have experts handle it well. Some fabrics require different pretreatment, and it may be risky to do it. Do not bleach!
